St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Tulla has benefited for many years from the generous sponsorship provided for this Fund Run. It is a course that is challenging for students and teachers alike. It is approximately 8km in length and students may choose to walk or run the route. Apart from the exercise on the day, it is a very nice day for all age groups to become involved in a common cause, to celebrate the different activities carried out during the past year and to look forward to the year ahead. The past few years have seen an extremely successful period for the school in terms of camogie and hurling at county, provincial and indeed national level. We also have teams competing successfully in soccer, athletics, handball, ladies football, basketball, chess and many more. Most of these games have away fixtures and have to be financed in order to pay for buses, kit and meals. While team members pay a contribution towards the buses, we rely on this Fund Run to make up the deficits, which can amount to €8,000 per annum. In addition to this PE and sports equipment needs to be refurbished or replaced annually. It is impossible to meet this from our current budget and we rely on your continuing support. We also have an exciting project ahead as we are upgrading our fitness suite to include strength and conditioning facilities.
Due to the current climate of Covid-19 and restrictions etc we are appealing for support for our students on the day through an on-line payment system for 2021. Thanking you in anticipation of your generous support.
Yours Sincerely, Juliet Coman, Principal
